Dr. Noopur Desai
BVSc, MVSc (Surgery), Diplomate ACVR (R. Oncology) – USA
Dr. Noopur Desai is an esteemed Veterinary Radiation Oncologist and an accomplished educator, known worldwide for her contributions to the field. Starting her journey in veterinary science in 2008, she pursued her Masters in Veterinary Science in Surgery and Radiology in 2010.
She moved to the United States for a fellowship in Medical Oncology from Michigan State University and completed a residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Her rigorous academic pursuits culminated in 2017 when she became a Diplomate of ACVR (R. Oncology), placing her among the top-tier Veterinary Radiation Oncologists globally.
However, Dr. Desai’s influence extends significantly into the realm of education. She has served as an Assistant Professor in Oncology at the Ohio State University (OSU) College of Veterinary Medicine, where she dedicated herself to mentoring and training the next generation of veterinarians. Her teaching philosophy centers on equipping her students with the knowledge and skills essential for modern oncology practice.
Upon returning to India, she founded The Cancer Vet, aiming to provide world-class cancer care for pets in her home country. Beyond her clinical accomplishments, Dr. Desai’s passion for teaching persists. She is committed to instructing a newer generation of veterinarians, utilizing her expertise in both clinical practice and academic instruction. Her zeal for education is paralleled only by her dedication to advancing veterinary oncology through clinical research and innovation.
Dr. David Vail
Dr. David Vail is a renowned figure in the field of comparative oncology with over thirty years of experience. He has been instrumental in designing and implementing clinical trials in companion dogs with cancer. Dr. Vail received his DVM from the University of Saskatchewan and has since been a leading voice in veterinary oncology. He currently holds the Suran Chair in Comparative Oncology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a member of the UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Dr. Michelle Turek
Dr. Michelle Turek is a distinguished Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Wisconsin. She received her DVM from the University of Montreal and is a dual diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology) and the American College of Veterinary Radiology (Radiation Oncology). Dr. Turek’s expertise lies in the field of radiation oncology, and she is dedicated to advancing veterinary cancer treatment through her work.
Dr. Laura Selmic
Dr. Laura Selmic is an Assistant Professor of surgical oncology at the Ohio State University. She is an ACVS and ECVS small animal surgery diplomate and an ACVS founding fellow of surgical oncology, and maxillofacial and oral surgery. Dr. Selmic’s work is recognized globally, and she has contributed significantly to the field of veterinary surgical oncology.
