Dr. Swapna Pendse is a dedicated veterinarian with a specialized focus on oncology. Graduating from Mumbai Veterinary College in 2011, she embarked on a journey to gain extensive clinical experience, participating in various training programs at teaching hospitals in North America. It was during her postgraduate Small Animal Rotating and Specialty Surgical internship in Canada that her passion for oncology truly blossomed.
After gaining valuable experience as a Clinician in referral Oncology, Internal medicine, and Rehabilitation therapy in Newfoundland, Dr. Pendse returned to her hometown, Pune, to establish herself as a General Physician. It was during her practice that she recognized the pressing need for easily accessible advanced care for pets with tumors and masses, which served as the catalyst for her decision to commit herself entirely to oncology and join the Cancer Vet team.
Dr. Pendse’s personal encounter with oncology goes back to her 10th standard when she witnessed her own German shepherd, Leo, undergoing treatment for a liver tumor. This experience instilled in her a deep empathy for pet parents facing similar challenges, driving her to strive for the best possible treatment plans with her 12 years of rich clinical experience and guidance from inspiring mentors.
To her, oncology represents a unique blend of medicine and surgery, where each case presents its own complexities, allowing her to indulge in her passions for problem-solving and creativity. She is thrilled that Dr. Noopur has introduced Small Animal Oncology to India and is determined to contribute to its growth and create a lasting impact in the field. Outside of work, Dr. Pendse finds solace in gardening, canvas painting, sketching, and the world of audiobooks.
